The Galaxy Tab S2 has a svelte design with its matte all-black slab with shiny bezels and rounded corners, the rest of the device is either glass or plastic. The back case is a slightly soft solid plastic which makes it gripper and is not removable. Below the display are the standard capacitive device controls like the physical home button, the back icon and the icon that shows which apps are open and controls the multi-window mode. It measures 7.8 x 5.3 x .22 inches and weighs 9.3 ounces which makes the Galaxy Tab S2 thinner and lighter from its competitors.
The 8 inch Tab S2 has gorgeous AMOLED display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution display and has a 4:3 screen aspect ratio making it closer to a square than other tablets. The front-facing camera is a 2.1 mega pixel camera but by default it is set to 1.6MP to fill the screen and the rear camera is 8 mega pixel. When it comes to battery life, the Tab S2 uses a 400o mAh battery which is small but helps achieve light weight, and offers up to 10 hours of general use. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core Exynos 5433 processor, with 3GB of RAM and option of 32 or 64 GB of storage and 128GB expansion using a microSD.
It runs on Android Lollipop with Samsung TouchWiz overlay, which allows you to run two apps side-by-side and quickly access settings. In addition, it comes with a Microsoft app, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Skype and OneNote. Other additional features are Samsung+ for logging in your account and backing up data from your device, Milk Music for streaming tunes And SideSync which you can take advantage to mirror your smartphone on the tablet. One feature that is quite impressive is its one touch fingerprint sensor in the home button, used to unlock the tablet, unlock third party apps and protect content in certain apps.
Overall, Samsung has done a great job, The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is amazingly light and thin, has quality performance, has great screen and has amazing features you can take advantage of. For a price of $399 it is an acceptable price however there are other tablets that offer robust parental control and other features at a lower price.
