The LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum is a 7 inch tablet designed for kids (3 to 9 years of age) and is one of the most popular children’s tablets. It looks friendly and chunky with its big bezel and rubber bumper, which is a good thing especially because it will spend most of its time in the little hands of kids or toddlers.

The LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum’s 7 inch screen supports the highest resolution form the company, the 1024 x 600 pixel resolution is a lot better compared to previous models. Display can be controlled with a finger or the included stylus that is attached to the main device. It is surprisingly heavy for a kids tablet, it weighs around 1.21 pounds and is larger compared to other models with its 9.1 x 5.9 x 1 inch dimension. It also features a 2 mega pixel front camera and 2 mega pixel rear camera. The Platinum is powered by 1GHz processor and offers up to 8GB storage for games, pictures, videos and content from various LeapPad apps. LeapPad platinum should last 5 hours on a full charge.

It offers child-safe browsing with LeapSearch, it allows access to web content that are safe and curated for kids or children, the collection of the content includes videos, images, specific sites and a lot more. Also, one of the its features is the parental control, it gives you the capability to manage a lot of things in your kids tablet, one of which is the apps that are shown on the home page another is whether your kid can access the App Center and its wish list and you can even manage the amount of time your kid will spend on their tablet each day and manage its LeapSearch browser. In addition, with its countdown timer your kids know how much time is left for them to use their device. Importantly, you can customize your child’s profiles, you can create up to three profiles along with your kids photos, grade level and names and parents can also check the apps kids have used or opened.

Unlike other tablets LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum is not an android tablet, it has its own operating system. Other pre-loaded contents are Photo fun, Music, note pad apps, an app center and kid friendly browser. According to LeapFrog, it offers access to a library of 1,000plus educator approved apps, videos and games.

As an educational device LeapPad is a fit with its price of $129.99, it is geared towards education and entertainment at the same time. It helps your kid to become more creative and to learn while having fun. However there are other tablets or devices that offers so much more at a lower cost or price.
